Cavalier Rescue USA is a national, foster home based, non-profit organization. The Cavalier's all-around beauty, regal grace, and even temper mark him as one of dogdom's noblemen. Cavaliers are the best of two worlds, combining the gentle attentiveness of a toy breed with the verve and athleticism of a sporting spaniel. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are incredibly sweet-natured dogs but unfortunately, like many purebred dogs, they are prone to certain health issues associated. Should you be interested in a Cavalier pup and we do not have either availability and or the timing is not right, we are personally connected to a network of amazing breeder friends and family across the United States and can help connect you as a courtesy to our network. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel wears his connection to British history in his breed's name. The timing, sex and number of pups in our litters is up to nature. As a responsible breeder, I have a responsibility to the Cavalier breed & it's future. As part of the breed standard a good temperament is just as vital to a pretty and sound Cavalier. Each dog is AKC and CKCSC USA registered and we only consider using breeders with sires who also adhere to these requirements. Generally we are wanting a Parti Color litter (Blenheim and Tri-Color) and a whole color litter (Black and Tan and Ruby) each year. Before breeding, all our dogs are all health tested. Blenheim, Tricolor, Black and Tan (Ruby), and Ruby. We breed occasionally, but only twice a year at the most. We are proud of our four legged family members and show in both the American Kennel Club (AKC) and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club USA (CKCSC) around the United States. They live in the house, on the furniture and underfoot. Adaptable Cavaliers do equally well with active owners and homebodies, they can be upbeat athletes or shameless couch potatoes, depending on an owners lifestyle. 3.Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are part of our family. They get along nicely with children and other dogs. At what age do you breed your Cavaliers? We recommend that you consider only breeders who wait until their Cavaliers are at least 2 1/2 years old before breeding. Is the mother of the puppy on the premises? If the answer is no, you are not speaking to a breeder. We advise anyone looking for a reputable breeder to ask the following questions: 1. We believe that it is the quality of litters, rather than the quantity, that define a kennel. Mindful of this goal, we have always been cautious and sparing in our breeding. We require the same health testing of the stud dogs to whom we breed. We are strong advocates of rigorous health testing we have not bred a bitch who has not been cleared by specialists for heart, eyes, hips and patella. We remain active in the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club USA (Charlie has chaired several committees, including Ethics, By-Laws, and Policies and Procedures, and he is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club USA Judge Katie served on the Board of Directors for four years as CKCSC, USA Secretary) and we also register our dogs and show them in the American Kennel Club.Īlthough we originally became interested in breeding in order to insure that we would never be without a Cavalier, for the last few decades our goal has been to improve the breed by breeding healthy Cavaliers who, to us, embody the qualities of the breed standard. The foundation of Blackfire Cavaliers was acquired through the help and mentoring of Anne Eckersley-Robins, whom we consider to be one of the premier Cavalier breeders in the United States today. Today we have a wonderful Cavalier family, pictured below. We first joined the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA in 1981, and have always had at least one Cavalier since then.
